Mesenkia’s proof-of-concept studies with KITAIbodies® show strong therapeutic potential. It opens the door to precision therapies engineered at nano-scale — with the potential for global clinical impact. From a single domain (nanobody), we aim to unlock a new generation of targeted cancer treatments. KITAIbodies® is a modular platform that allows us to engineer multiple therapeutics formats from a single validated domain.

The KITAIbodies® hinders tumor growth and invasion via the essential APRIL-HVEM-NFκB axis in the tumor and alleviates immune suppression by blocking the BTLA-HVEM axis on immune cells.

Therapeutic drugs incorporating the KITAIbodies® have a clear potential for integration into both first line therapy and standard of care. KITAIbodies® are developed from the evolutionary unique Alpaca antibodies known for their superior properties and ability to penetrate the tumor.

Intellectual Property & Platform Innovation

Mesenkia Therapeutics’ IP portfolio includes biologic drug candidates, primarily targeting the aggressive brain tumor glioblastoma, where HVEM acts as central biological marker and target. Mesenkia has exclusive commercial license for this technology from Tokyo University. The specially designed antibody platform, based on a very solid experimental basis, attacks tumors and inhibits cancer growth in such a way that the cancer cells have difficulty adapting to treatment. As the platform is modular, it can be combined with other pharmaceuticals for constructions, which is already done in partnership. Furthermore, several new drug candidates are currently undergoing experimental verification.
